LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- With another round of winter weather headed to Kentuckiana, crews are busy preparing roads. They're also asking the community to do their part.
Roads could be slick throughout Thursday evening and into Friday morning. With the anticipated icy conditions in some areas, crews have been doing the best they can to get roads brined and salted.
Crews are also asking the community to do their part behind the wheel.
"We see pavement conditions change over a very short distance in a lot of these setups," said Chris Jessie, a spokesperson for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's 4th District. "So folks that are driving along fine, then all of a sudden it's not fine, so just anticipate that weather."
The Elizabethtown area has seen their fair share of winter weather over the past week, with more on the way. Jessie said KYTC crews are on standby and will keep treating the roads as needed through the weekend.
In Metro Louisville, city officials said there is more than enough salt on-hand to handle what's coming our way. They're reminding drivers to leave plenty of room for the salt trucks out on the roads in the coming days.
"If you are close enough to read anything that says on the back of those big trucks that say 'stay back' however many feet, you are too close," Sal Melendez, with Metro Public Works, said. "So a little rule to follow. Give them enough room to work."
The Metro Snow Team will report to work around 5 p.m. Thursday, and will monitor the road conditions throughout Thursday night and into Friday morning.
