LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Rain or shine, some R&B legends will perform under the stars in Louisville this weekend.

The Great Lawn at Waterfront Park will transform into a soulful celebration of music, community and culture for the second annual Sky Soul Festival Saturday afternoon.

Thousands of music lovers will pack the waterfront to sing, dance and celebrate some of the biggest names in R&B.

"We will kick it off with 702, and we end the night with Jagged Edge. And in between, we have the legendary Doug E. Fresh, he's back by popular demand," Lanona Nelson, festival organizer, said. "We have John B. Stokely, Total, Dave Hollister, so everyone has been saying that they like somebody on the card, if not everybody."

The festival is returning for its second year in Louisville, and so is the energy with this year's lineup.

"We just wanted to come in and create a space where people could come and let their hair down and enjoy some live music," said Nelson. "So this (has) definitely been our priority, to come in and against the backdrop of Waterfront Park and it's been a blessing."

Organizers expect several thousand people to attend the event that isn't just about music. Some of the proceeds will support the Sky Foundation, a cause dedicated to giving back to local families and youth. Money will be used to provide scholarships.

"A portion of ticket sales for Sky Soul Festival go to support college students with a music-focused future," Nelson said. "So we couldn't be more proud than to support students who are on their way and on their journey."

Festival gates open at 10 a.m. Saturday, with the show starting at 3 p.m.

Tickets are still available, starting at $60. To learn more or purchase tickets, click here.
