LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A reported rodent infestation prompted a health department investigation at a Louisville Kroger store.

The Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness is investigating the Kroger on Goss Avenue in the Germantown neighborhood after it discovered evidence of a rodent infestation was found in three aisles. That included bread and pasta products.

Earlier this week, the health department ordered the store to close the affected aisles, remove everything from the shelves and break down the shelving to get rid of the pests. A health department spokesperson said officials visited the store Thursday to check on the progress.

In a statement, a Kroger spokesperson said the company is working with the health department "to fully resolve the issue and ensure our store meets the highest standards of cleanliness and safety."
