LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two people were arrested by police in Oldham County after a hit-and-run that killed an elderly woman.
Police said officers responded about 7 p.m. Nov. 11 to a report of a woman found lying in the grass on US 42 between KY 53 and Smith Lane.
Investigators believe the woman was hit by a car that left the scene. Police identified the victim as Margaret E. Preble, 75, of La Grange.
In an update Friday, police said two people were arrested in the 1400 block of Bluegrass Parkway in connection to the incident. Jason Cornett, 53, was charged with leaving scene of accident/failure to render aid and tampering with physical evidence. Zoe Wolfe, 23, was charged with tampering with physical evidence.
Police said it was determined that the vehicle involved was owned by Cornett. His truck was found at a repair shop in Corbin, Kentucky, and was impounded and taken back to Oldham County, where it matched evidence found at the scene.
Detectives determined that Cornett drove the truck at the time of the crash and had "several alcoholic beverages a short time prior to driving," according to police.
Cornett also tried to conceal evidence of his involvement, police said.
Wolfe then drove the damaged truck out of Oldham County the day after the crash and was driving it before it was taken to Corbin.
