LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two people were detained Sunday morning in connection to the triple shooting at Harvest Homecoming that killed 18-year-old Bryce Gerlach.

New Albany Police Chief Todd Bailey said tactical teams from New Albany, the Jeffersonville Police Department, the Metro SWAT Team, Louisville Metro Police Department and ATF all coordinated a simultaneous effort at four addresses in New Albany, one in Jeffersonville and one in Louisville.

This was all in relation to the shooting incident at the Harvest Homecoming Festival.

"It was actually at the stop light, and then it actually happened right next to me on the sidewalk,"Ā Emma Daily, a New Albany resident, said on October 27th. "I was in the car, and I thought there was fireworks going on at first. It was scary because like people were just holding their kids."

Police were focusing on recovering evidence in relation to the case. Bailey said two people were detained and one of the suspects has a "direct connection to the case."

"I'm honestly kind of surprised that they even caught two people, because there's a lot of people there,"Ā Darian Lomax, another New Albany resident, said.Ā

Evidence, which includes several guns, were recovered.

"It's pretty awesome that, you know, hopefully justice will be served," Daily said.

Gerlach was shot and killed in a triple shooting at the festival on Oct. 12. Police said he was an innocent bystander.

A vigil was held for Bryce Andrew Gerlach of Corydon, Indiana on Oct. 13, 2024, after he was shot and killed at Harvest Homecoming.

Bailey said Floyd County Prosecutor Chris Lane is working with NAPD to "ensure all persons responsible for the murder of Bryce Gerlach and the shooting of two others are brought to justice."

ā€œToday is a good day for our community," Bailey said in a news release. "Great strides were made today to ensure justice for Bryce and the others wounded during this act of senseless violence. Our team has worked tirelessly from the time of the incident to get to where we are today. Cases of this type are complicated and time consuming but our commitment to our community is our primary driving factor.ā€

"Hopefully nothing like this happens again,"Ā Daily said. "We're still gonna come back every year."
