LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville Metro Police is investigating after two people were shot Tuesday night in the St. Denis neighborhood.
Officers were called to Modern Way, near Cane Run and Farnsley roads, just before 8:30 p.m. on a reported shooting, LMPD spokesperson Sgt. Matt Sanders said in a statement.
Once on scene, police found a man who had been shot in the leg. He was transported to UofL Hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening, Sanders said.
Shortly after that run, a female victim was brought to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. Her condition and the extent of her injuries weren't provided.
Investigators believe both were involved in the incident.
In an update Wednesday, LMPD said 21-year-old Jiantanez Rutledge was arrested and charged with robbery.
According to his citation, Rutledge met up with the victims to sell them a gun. Rutledge asked the victims to take him to the store. Shortly after getting into the car, Rutledge "presented a gun, demanding property from the victims." One of the victims tried to disarm Rutledge as someone outside of the car began shooting an "AR" as the car drove off.Â
Rutledge is being held at Metro Corrections and is due in court Thursday.Â
LMPD is still investigating. Anyone with information in this or any other case is encouraged to call LMPD's anonymous Crime Tip Line at 502-574-LMPD (5673). Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the department's online Crime Tip Portal by clicking here.
