LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 50-year-old woman was identified Tuesday as the victim of a fatal hit-and-run crash in Louisville's Russell neighborhood.

According to Aaron Ellis, a spokesman for the Louisville Metro Police Department, the crash happened just after 4 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the intersection of 20th Street and Broadway.

LMPD's investigation reveals a passenger car hit the woman when she tried to cross in the middle of Broadway, not at a crosswalk.

The victim, identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office as April Strange, died at the scene of blunt force trauma.

LMPD said the driver of the passenger vehicle didn't stop to check on the victim. Investigators don't know which direction the car came from or which way it left the scene.
