LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The teen who was fatally shot in the Chickasaw neighborhood Tuesday night has been identified.

According to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office, 14-year-old Johnathon Rodgers died in the shooting.

Sgt. Matt Sanders, a spokesperson for Louisville Metro Police, said the shooting happened in the 3400 block of Garland Avenue around 9:19 p.m. That's near Louis Coleman Jr. Drive and South 35th Street.

Once on scene, police found a juvenile lying in the front yard of a home with a gunshot wound who "was beyond help," Sanders said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

It's unclear at this time what led to the shooting. LMPD's Homicide Unit is investigating, but had no suspects and had made no arrests.
