LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Bardstown, Kentucky, man is facing animal cruelty charges after police in Nelson County received a tip about chicken- fighting.
Monday morning, Kentucky State Police post 4 in Elizabethtown received a tip that an organized chicken-fighting event was taking place at 1950 Pottershop Road in Bardstown, KSP said in a statement. That's off Bluegrass Parkway.
Troopers made contact with the owner of the property, 37-year-old Aaron John Thompson, and with other individuals at the property.
Upon investigation, Thompson was charged with cruelty to animals. He was cited and will appear in Nelson County District Court.
KSP said they are cracking down on chicken-fighting with three other active investigations across the state.
