LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Columbus, Indiana, man has been sentenced for his part in the death of his 2-year-old daughter in 2021.Â
Jeremy Sweet, 41, was sentenced to 40 years in prison in a Bartholomew County courtroom on Tuesday, reported by FOX59 in Indianapolis.Â
Sweet was charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death after his truck went into the White River on Thanksgiving in 2021. His 2-year-old daughter, Emma Sweet, was also in the truck. Her body was found two days later, three miles from where the truck was found in the river.
According to court records, police said Jeremy Sweet admitted to using meth and marijuana the day of the accident.Â
