LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A staff member of Elizabethtown Independent Schools resigned Tuesday after she was arrested for allegedly being intoxicated at school.
Officer Chris Denham, a spokesperson for the Elizabethtown Police Department, said a staff member at TK Stone Middle School noticed Tamara Mouser, 49, and "believed her to be intoxicated" around 8 a.m. Tuesday.
The school district said in a Facebook post that an administrator and school resource officer "quickly and effectively" removed the staff member and "addressed the issue."
Denham said the SRO "quickly confirmed the staff member's suspicion" that Mouser was intoxicated. She was arrested and charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place.
The school district said the staff member, Mouser, resigned effective immediately and "student safety was never in question." Her role at the school is unknown at this time.
Denham said Mouser was not "directly responsible for the care of any students" between her arrival at the school Tuesday morning and the time of her arrest.
Mouser is being held in the Hardin County Detention Center.
