LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man was shot and killed outside a local roller rink Sunday night, according to Louisville police.

LMPD spokesperson Matt Sanders said police received multiple calls for a shooting outside Robben's Roost, a roller rink on Six Mile Lane in the Buechel neighborhood, right at midnight.

According to its hours online, the roller rink is typically open Sundays from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. and then again from 8 p.m. until 1 a.m.

Tony Robben, who said he's the roller rink's owner, told WDRB News on Monday that in the decades he's had the business, there's never been violence like this shooting right outside. He said he's heartbroken over the situation.

Police said the victim was a man in his 20s, found in the parking lot. The coroner's office has not yet identified the victim, but Robben said the young man was a regular at the roller rink.

Donald Scobie lives right across the street from Robben's Roost. He said he's never heard of any problems there before.

"Overall, quiet. Music goes on, everybody has a good time," Scobie said.

He said through his window, he saw the flashing lights from police cars and ambulances was they filled the parking lot.

"That many police officers -- I've never even seen a police officer there. It's always quiet. And when you see that many police officers in one place you know it's a shooting," he said.

According to LMPD, there have been at least 105 homicides this year in the city, as well as more than 250 non-deadly shootings.

This homicide outside the roller rink follows two from the previous weekend outside a busy area of Bardstown Road in the Highlands.

"... it doesn't surprise me that it happens anywhere," said Scobie. "I work downtown. To tell you the truth, I'd much rather be downtown than on Bardstown Road these days."

LMPD's Homicide Unit is investigating the homicide outside Robben's Roost. As of Monday afternoon, LMPD said no one has been arrested, but police are actively investigating.

Robben said there were probably 100 people at the roller rink Sunday night. LMPD said it's also aware of a large crowd there and is asking anyone with information to call LMPD's anonymous Crime Tip Line at 502-574-LMPD (5673).
