LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Police are still looking for a suspect in last night's shooting that killed a father of four in the Chickasaw Neighborhood.
Days before James Moore was murdered on his front porch the victim’s aunt said he talked to her about some shootings that happened recently.
“He was telling me it was some shooting going on and he wasn't involved in it,” said Pat Moore.
Toody, as friends and family called him, told his aunt he didn't have anything to do with it and said he was a peace maker.
“I said you swear you're not involved in it and he said no, I'm not involved in it,” said Pat Moore.
But on Thursday night, Moore was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at his home.
“He didn't deserve this. The only thing is we keep killing each other about nothing,” said Chauncy Durham.
As Moore’s father, Durham says his four grandchildren now have to live the rest of their lives without their father because of a senseless and selfish act.
“My grandson, he's going to miss his daddy. He don’t got a daddy no more,” said Durham.
Police and family members say blood is being shed far too often.
“Unfortunately this is occurring way too often. We've all made these things a number of times and every time it's very tragic and this one is no different,” said LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell.
“Only thing I want is justice. I don’t want no other killings. Only thing I want is for them to go to jail and do it the right way,” said Durham.
The family is hoping someone comes forward who witnessed the shooting. Moore's father had this to say to those who are responsible for killing his son.
“We need to get together, grow up, and be more peaceful -- love each other.”
If you have any information in this case you're asked to call the anonymous police tip line at 574-LMPD.
