LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A former Marion County Schools teacher and high school band director arrested this week on 34 counts of sexual abuse is now facing two sexual misconduct charges involving a minor in southern Indiana.
Kentucky State Police arrested Adam McRay, 34, of Lebanon, on Monday. Police said he is accused of having sexual contact with at least two students in Kentucky.
Court documents show a Marion County grand jury indicted McRay on 34 counts of first-degree sexual abuse. The indictment alleges he sexually abused a victim younger than 16 over the course of about a year, beginning in August 2024.
McRay was a teacher with Marion County Schools and the band director at Marion County High School when the alleged offenses occurred, KSP said. He previously worked as a band director in Mercer County.
McRay is also now charged in two separate cases in Floyd County, Indiana.
According to an arrest warrant, McRay is charged with two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor. The charges were filed in Floyd County this month and are separate from the Kentucky charges.
The Kentucky investigation started in late May, when the Lebanon Police Department asked KSP to investigate the allegations.
The case was presented to a Marion County grand jury Aug. 6. KSP said a detective served McRay with the indictment Monday at a home in Marion County.
McRay was arrested and taken to the Marion County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $20,000 bond.
He is scheduled to appear in Marion District Court in Lebanon at 9 a.m. Wednesday for a hearing on his extradition to Indiana.
