LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An Indiana couple is facing neglect charges after allegedly leaving their two children inside a hot car, according to police.
Officers were called to a Walmart just northeast of Indianapolis Tuesday on a report from a passerby who noticed the kids locked inside an SUV that wasn't running, FOX59 News reported.
Once on scene, police found the parents — Mirianne Pierre and Watson Joseph — returning to the vehicle.
Police said one of the children was sweating profusely while the other seemed dazed. After checking surveillance video, police determined the kids were left in the car with no air conditioning for about 40 minutes.
Temperatures were in the mid-90s during the incident, but police believe the temperature inside the vehicle was likely over 125 degrees.
The children were checked out by medics at the scene. While both had normal vitals, their blood temperatures were higher than normal.
Both parents were arrested on neglect charges. The children were placed into DCS custody.
