LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An Indiana man is charged with leaking evidence, like sensitive crime scene photos, in the case of two teen girls murdered in Delphi.

According to court documents, Mitchell Westerman is a friend and former co-worker of attorney Andrew Baldwin.

Baldwin previously represented Richard Allen, the man charged with murdering Libby German and Abby Williams in 2017.

In October, police said Westerman admitted to Baldwin that he was behind the leak. Westerman said he took photos of evidence at the law office and shared them.

The evidence ended up in the hands of YouTube and podcast creators.

Because of the leak, Baldwin and another attorney, Bradley Rozzi, were removed from the case.

Allen's trial, originally set for January, will likely begin late next year. Special Judge Fran Gull, who is presiding over the case, reschedule the trial after Allen's new attorneys, William Lebrato and Robert Scremin, said in a court filing that "it will be impossible for counsel to be ready for trial in January, 2024."

Allen, 51, was arrested in October 2022 and charged with two counts of murder in the 2017 slayings of 13-year-old Abigail Williams and 14-year-old Liberty German. The Delphi, Indiana, man has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

A relative of one of the teenagers dropped them off on Feb. 13, 2017, at a hiking trail near their hometown of Delphi, about 60 miles (100 kilometers) northwest of Indianapolis. The teens, known as Abby and Libby, were reported missing that evening after they didn’t show up at a meeting place to be picked up. Their bodies were found the next day in a rugged, heavily wooded area near the trail.
