LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An Indiana State Police trooper was seriously injured after a crash in Indianapolis on Saturday night.
ISP said trooper Azariah Keith stopped on the left shoulder of Interstate 65 southbound near 30th Street to help a stranded driver change a flat tire. The trooper finished changing the tire and the driver was pulling away when another vehicle lost control and hit Keith before crashing into his cruiser.
Police said the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox that crashed into Keith was driven by Armaandeep Singh. The 22-year-old Indianapolis man was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury.Â
Singh was going at a high rate of speed when he lost control and crashed into a concrete barrier, according to police.Â
Keith was taken to a local hospital where he is stable but in serious condition.
