GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WDRB) -- A bond reduction request made by an accused rapist didn't go the way the defendant planned.
Instead of reducing the bond, the judge doubled it.
Authorities say Cody Arnett broke into a Georgetown, Kentucky, apartment and raped a woman at knifepoint .
According to WKYT, police say Arnett entered that woman's on-campus apartment complex at Georgetown College early Sunday while she was asleep. He then forced the victim to have sex at knifepoint, according to police.
The victim says she was eventually able to get the knife from Arnett and stabbed him several times. Her screams woke up her roommate.
Police arrested Arnett at the front door.
The attack has left students at Georgetown College shaken and disturbed.
"To know that something as traumatic as this happened right here in little Georgetown, I never would have, never would have thought it. This is not something that happens on campus. It doesn't happen in Georgetown, let alone on campus," said Georgetown College student Emmalie Hankinson.
During a Tuesday court appearance, Arnett asked the judge to lower his $50,000 bond to $5,000.
The judge responded by increasing it to $100,000 after learning about his prior felony convictions for bank robbery.
Arnett pleaded not guilty to charges of rape and burglary.
