RADCLIFF, Ky. (WDRB) -- A couple faces criminal abuse charges for allegedly neglecting a five-year-old boy.
The Radcliff Police Department arrested the child's father , 32-year-old Joshua Inman and his girlfriend, Whitney Young, 33, Tuesday night.
Detective Kenneth Mattingly said Norton Children's Hospital tipped off the department about a severely malnourished boy that the hospital deemed "a case of abuse."
Detective Mattingly said an investigation found the abuse has been ongoing for several months and led back to Inman.
Young lives with Inman and his son, and detectives said they co-parent the young boy. She faces a charge for criminal abuse 1st degree for a child 12 or under.
Inman faces charges for criminal abuse 1st degree for a child 12 or under, possession of a contained substance, possession of handgun by a convicted felon, and trafficking in marijuana.
As of Wednesday morning, the five-year-old remained in Norton's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in downtown Louisville. Detective Mattingly said he is in "critical care."
