LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Katina Powell, whose sex parties for University of Louisville basketball players and recruits ultimately led to NCAA sanctions, is under investigation for allegedly taking part in a violent robbery of a local dentist over the weekend.

Thomas Tyre, who has previously disclosed a relationship with Powell, claims in a Louisville Metro Police investigative report that Powell and her brother, Ernest Powell, entered his home Saturday night and Katina Powell demanded money.

Ernest Powell is accused of pulling out a knife and cutting Tyre inside his mouth. The two men struggled and Tyre suffered knife wounds on his hands, according to the report.

Tyre, 55, said Katina Powell told Ernest “not to hurt him that bad during the assault,” according to the police narrative.

The two left with Tyre’s wallet, $120 in cash and his iPhone, according to the documents. Tyre was taken by EMS to University Hospital for his injuries, the report says.

LMPD denied a request for a copy of the investigative report. WDRB News obtained it from a police source.

Dwight Mitchell, a spokesman for police, said the records are preliminary and "premature release ... could result in prejudice" to potential witnesses.

"The investigation into this incident remains open at this time and there have been no arrests," Mitchell said in an email. "

Police are investigating the incident as a robbery,  but no charges have been filed, according to the investigative report.

Reached by telephone, Tyre said he needed to talk to his attorney, David Lambertus, before commenting. Lambertus does not talk with the media.

Katina Powell, 45, is already facing charges alleging she stole blank checks belonging to Tyre and tried to cash them at a liquor store. That case is pending.

Attorney John Olash, who represents Katina Powell, said he had not heard about the robbery allegation. She did not immediately return a phone message. Ernest Powell, who has the same address as Katina Powell, also could not be immediately reached.

Tyre himself is facing three counts of unlawfully prescribing or administering controlled substances. He was arrested last month after police claim he was found to be treating patients with expired controlled substances, according to court records.

Tyre also had firearms and ammunition within reach of staff and patients, according to the arrest report.

In Powell’s 2015 book "Breaking Cardinal Rules," she claimed she hosted 22 stripping and sex parties from 2010 to 2014 inside Billy Minardi Hall, a dorm for athletes on the U of L campus. She alleged that Andre McGee, a former director of basketball operations for the men's basketball team, arranged the parties and paid her $10,000 for supplying dancers.
