LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Metro Police Department plans to release body camera footage Thursday afternoon of the moment officers shot and killed a man in south Louisville last month.
Yoel Napoles-Ravelo, 32, came to the United States to escape violence in Cuba.
Officers shot and killed Yoel Napoles-Ravelo on July 25 on Eagle Wood Drive, off Dixie Highway.
His family told WDRB he called 911 on himself because he wanted medical help and was having hallucinations.
Police said he came at officers with a knife. LMPD said officers told him to stop and used tasers and rubber bullets, but nothing worked. That's when they shot and killed him.
His family has criticized the officers' response.
LMPD plans to release video from the body cameras worn by officers on scene during a news conference Thursday afternoon.
WDRB will have a crew there and will bring updates online and on air.
