LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 45-year-old Louisville man charged in connection with a shooting in the Russell neighborhood that left a man in critical condition earlier in this month was in court Tuesday.

Broderick Clarkson was arrested Monday and charged with assault in the shooting that happened in the 2600 block of West Broadway on Friday, Nov. 8 in the parking lot of Dino's Food Mart.

Officers found the victim, believed to be in his 40s, with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was taken to UofL Hospital with "life-threatening injuries," according to a news release. There's no word on his current condition.

In addition to assault, Clarkson is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and court documents indicate he has four felony convictions. The judge entered a not guilty plea on his behalf during Tuesday's court appearance and set his bond at $100,000 full cash.

He was also ordered to have no contact with the victim or Dino's Food Mart. A court appointed public defender will be assigned to his case.

Clarkson's next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 26.
