LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is facing several charges after he allegedly stabbed the teenaged son of a woman he tried to rape over the weekend.Â
The alleged incident happened around 6 a.m. Saturday, April 12, in the 300 block of Whitney Avenue, according to court documents. That's off South 3rd Street in the Wilder Park neighborhood.
The woman who lives at that address with her son told Louisville Metro Police officers a man crawled into bed with her as she was sleeping. She said she thought it was her 14-year-old son until she heard his voice and realized it was an intruder.Â
The woman told police the man whispered "I'll rape you. I'll take your stuff." Police said the woman ordered the man to leave but he "began to move his hands underneath her clothes touching her bare skin." The two struggled until the woman's son came into the room to help his mother.Â
That's when the suspect — 42-year-old Fisal Hammad — "stood up and stabbed him with the knife" in the upper left shoulder, according to court documents. The teen then locked himself in his bedroom as Hammad ran from the home, taking two cellphones with him.
Police were able to track one of the phones to the intersection of South 2nd Street and West Lansing Avenue, where officers found Hammad about 15 minutes later. During a "consent search," officers found a knife, two cellphones, the victim's driver's license and several of the victim's credit cards.
During questioning, Hammad denied everything and said the knife was from his mechanic shop. Hammad was arrested and charged with burglary, attempted rape and assault. A judge entered not guilty pleas on his behalf during an arraignment hearing on April 14 and set a $100,000 cash bond.Â
Hammad's next court appearance is scheduled for April 22.
