LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is charged with murder after police said he admitted to them he shot and killed his father and his son.

Louisville Metro Police officers found two men were shot and killed early Monday morning at an apartment complex in south Louisville. It happened just before 4 a.m. Monday at the Douglas Park apartment complex in the Southside neighborhood.

Yunior Rodriguez Ricardo was arrested just after 9 a.m. at the apartment complex and charged with murder. According to his arrest citation, responding officers saw Rodriguez Ricardo near the door to the apartment where the two victims were found. He admitted to shooting them.

Investigators found a gun inside the apartment and three shell casings near the victims, who police later said were Rodriguez Ricardo's father and son.

Rodriguez Ricardo is also charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a defaced firearm. He's expected to appear in court Tuesday.

He does have a lengthy criminal history, including a second degree manslaughter conviction. According to an arrest citation from 2013, Rodriguez Ricardo admitted to stabbing a person "several times." He was found guilty of manslaughter in 2016. In these court documents, his name is spelled "Junior Ricardo-Rodriguez," and has the same birth date. The entry notes that he is also known as "Yunior."

He was also found guilty of DUI in 2019, and was later charged with driving on a suspended license. In recent months, Rodriguez Ricardo has also been cited for failing to appear in court.
