LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville man is facing charges after fleeing from Louisville Metro Police custody.
Devin Robinson, 31, of Louisville, is charged with escape after he got free of his handcuffs and ran from booking at Metro Corrections a little after 6 p.m. Wednesday, according to LMPD Spokesperson John Bradley.
Metro Corrections officers chased Robinson to the area of 8th Street and Muhammad Ali. LMPD officers as well as Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies and EMS responded to the scene.
Officers pepper sprayed Robinson, and he was transported to the hospital for evaluation, Bradley said. Robinson was then booked into Metro Corrections.
According to court documents, Robinson was originally arrested on strangulation and assault charges stemming from a domestic incident earlier Wednesday.
Robinson appeared in court Thursday morning and pled not guilty. He has since posted a $5,000 cash bond, and is due back in court on April 11.
