LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Two Kentucky men are facing charges after explosives were found in a car during a traffic stop.

Ronald Coffman, 41, from Mercer County, and Zebadiah Murphy, 36, from Anderson County, were arrested and charged with the use of a weapon of mass destruction.

Kentucky State Police said on Monday, Mar. 31, a trooper made a traffic stop on Anderson Crossing Drive in Anderson County. Coffman and Murphy were in the car, and consented to vehicle search, KSP said in a release. Troopers found drugs and two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in the rear floorboard.

Coffman told police the devices found in the car contained black powder and lead pellets.

Police set up a perimeter, and a hazardous device unit responded to the scene to safely remove the device from the car.

KSP said a search warrant was obtained for Murphy's home near Hammonds Creek Road in Anderson County, and found two additional IEDs and items to make them. Several guns, gun suppressors, and restricted ammunition were also found in the home.

Coffman and Murphy are being held in the Franklin County jail on a $25,000 and $15,000 bond, respectively.
