Louisville police arrest 13-year-old for allegedly assaulting elderly woman on her porch

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A 13-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly assaulting an elderly Louisville woman on her own front porch.

Louisville Metro Police said in a Facebook post Friday they had arrested and charged the teen with sex abuse.

What started as a typical Saturday afternoon for Jan Fletcher quickly took a disturbing turn. The 78-year-old was cleaning her front porch on Maple Road around 4 p.m. when a young man approached her on his bike.

Fletcher said the boy stopped and asked for directions to a nearby park. In a video shared with WDRB, it appears as if he's dusting off Fletcher's bottom, but then he repeatedly gropes her until Fletcher demands he stop. The video shared with WDRB shows the whole encounter took less than a few minutes.

Police said the 13-year-old does not live in Fletcher's neighborhood, and said in a statement "there is no evidence that there is any widespread crime trend reported of males groping senior women."
