LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville Metro Police detective was placed on administrated leave for being charged with a DUI early Sunday morning.
LMPD Spokesman Aaron Ellis said officers responded to the 2300 block of Frankfort Avenue and found detective Kyle Carroll, who was off-duty at the time, had crashed into a parked car.
Police detected the odor of alcohol on his breath and after field sobriety tests, determined he was under the influence and he was arrested.
There were no injuries.
"LMPD takes this situation very seriously and we are grateful no one was injured," Ellis said in a statement. "The officer will be placed on administrative leave as we investigate further."
According to an arrest report, when officers arrived to the crash, Carroll came out from behind a building and said two people fled the scene. Police determined that information was false.
Police said Carroll crossed the center lane and hit a parked car. Carroll avoided getting close to officers and told police he had two beers.
Carroll blew a 0.151 BAC on the scene and a 0.135 BAC when taken to Metro Corrections.
