LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police have arrested six suspects accused of being linked to a recent string of vehicle thefts across the city.
The suspects include Desmond Carney, Deonte Bass, Dmontray Ford, Chrisaune Lambirth, Truth Martin, and an unidentified juvenile.

According to police, Carney and Bass were arrested together. Arrest citations for those two men say they were arrested in southern Jefferson County, not far from the Bullitt County line. They are both facing charges including receiving stolen property of $10,000 or more, fleeing or evading police, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
LMPD said Ford, Lambirth, Martin, and the juvenile "acted as a group."
Ford, Lambirth, and Martin faced a judge Thursday morning from jail. According to citations, those three men are accused of being in a vehicle that was previously reported stolen, traveling from an area of Shelbyville Road in east Louisville into west Louisville.
They are scheduled to be back in court on June 21. Carney and Bass are scheduled for a court appearance June 19.
LMPD said there have been 2,451 reports of stolen vehicles so far this year in the city. That's down compared to this time last year when 2,975 vehicles were reported stolen.
But some Louisvillians, like Tony Warf, said times have changed.
"You can't leave stuff out like you used to," Warf said. "When I was a kid you could leave your door open here, wasn't no such thing as breaking into your houses, stealing cars."
Warf said in the Portland neighborhood, his son's vehicle has been broken into before, but he doesn't know who was responsible.
"And we seen it on video. Guy across the street had it on video," he said.
In downtown Louisville, right across the street from the jail, Takeisha Benford runs a hotdog stand. She said recently, someone stole her mother's car and it was found with heavy damage.
"We called, we had it reported stolen," Benford said. "They finally found it and it was on the impound lot. And the video -- the tires was all messed up, rims. How do you drive a tire off a car? I have no idea."
She said this type of activity isn't uncommon.
"It's happening everywhere -- west end, Buechel, J'town -- it's happening everywhere," said Benford.
In a social media post about the recent arrests, LMPD said: "The impact of vehicle theft goes far beyond the loss of property - it disrupts our sense of security and safety, and can even have ties to more serious violent crimes."
"It's just crazy. It's going to happen," said Benford. "I just suggest people leave their doors locked and keep your alarms on and stuff like that. That's all you can do."
LMPD said the recent arrests stemmed from the work several units including LMPD's Criminal Interdiction Division, K-9, SWAT, Air Unit, officers in all eight divisions, Technical Operations, KSP Air Unit, Middletown PD, Oldham, Spencer, and Bullitt County law enforcement agencies.
