LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville woman is facing serious charges after she allegedly pointed a gun at a Louisville police detective earlier this week.

It happened at around 5 p.m. May 19 at a home in the 1700 block of Bolling Avenue, near S. 22nd Street, in the Park Hill neighborhood. The Louisville Metro Police Department was conducting an investigation in the area when 35-year-old Ciarra Rucker allegedly pointed a gun at a detective and said "I will shoot you."

The detective was forced "to retreat to a position of cover in order to save himself from himself from serious physical harm or death."

Rucker -- a convicted felon -- then barricaded herself inside the home for several hours before she was taken into custody around 10:40 p.m. without further incident, according to information from a Louisville Metro Police spokesperson.

During a search of the home, investigators found a loaded gun, with one round in the chamber, in an upstairs closet where Rucker had been hiding, according to the arrest slip.

Rucker is now charged with wanton endangerment of a police officer, tampering with physical evidence, terroristic threatening and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

She remains jailed at Louisville Metro Corrections with a $25,000 bond.
