LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A woman awaiting sentencing for stealing an ambulance in 2018 is in more trouble after she allegedly assaulted a corrections officer.Â
Police said Stacey Tomes hit a female corrections officer in the face with a bottle Saturday and scratched her face, according to court documents. Tomes was being escorted to a holding cell before the alleged attack.Â
According to online court records, Tomes, 46, was scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 30 on several charges, including theft by unlawful taking, wanton endangerment and fleeing or evading police. Those charges are in connection to an incident on Nov. 1, 2018, when she stole an ambulance parked outside Norton Hospital in downtown Louisville and led police on a chase. An EMT had to jump out of the ambulance as Tomes drove off.
She pleaded guilty to those charges and was due to learn her sentence Thursday.Â
This is the second time in less than a week that an inmate has been charged with assaulting a corrections officer. Hannah Hardy was charged with assault after she allegedly spit in an officer's eye last week. Hardy is being held on arson and wanton endangerment charges after she allegedly set a fire at a home on Broad Run Road in February while two people were inside.Â
