LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A man was arrested Saturday after allegedly breaking into a home in Louisville's Wyandotte/Oakdale neighborhood while armed with a weapon similar to a medieval flail.
According to court documents, a woman called police and said a man broke into her home in the 900 block of West Evelyn Avenue and was chasing her husband with a baseball bat.
Police arrived at the scene to find 30-year-old Zachary Bailey still inside the home.
Court documents say Bailey broke in through the back door by breaking a window and kicking in the door.
He then allegedly entered the home and said he was going to kill the man inside. Police said Bailey was armed with "a mini baseball bat with an attached metal spike on a chain."
Bailey then chased the man out of the home while swinging the weapon close enough to hit him.
Police said when they arrived, Bailey exited the front door, immediately got on the ground and was taken into custody.
LMPD recovered the weapon inside the home and found the homeowners’ personal property in his pockets.
Bailey was charged with burglary and wanton endangerment. He is scheduled to appear in court Monday morning.
His bond was set at $50,000.
