LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police in southern Indiana arrested a 34-year-old man after he led them on a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 65 Wednesday afternoon.

Indiana State Police said around 12:30 p.m. a trooper attempted to stop Kyle Jurkovic, of Joliet, Illinois, for following too closely on I-65 near the 51-mile marker.

But he refused to stop, and sped away. Jurkovic fled down I-65 south at "extreme speeds" and went over 100 mph, police said.

Multiple units responded as he continued to weave through traffic. A Scott County deputy deployed a Stop Stick tire-deflation device, which struck at least one tire, but Jurkovic continued south and exited onto State Road 56 at the Scottsburg exit while riding on the rim.

He tried to reenter I-65 from the northbound on-ramp, but a trooper brought him to a stop by using the Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver.

Jurkovic was taken into custody and booked into the Jackson County Jail.

He's been initially charged with resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, reckless driving, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
