LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A man was arrested, accused of damaging a Kentucky Senate candidate's campaign headquarters in Lexington.
Friday, Feb. 27, 39-year-old Blake Lashelle was arrested in Madison County and charged with felony criminal mischief for allegedly breaking into and causing damaging to Andy Barr headquarters on Thursday, according to Barr's campaign office.
Lexington Police said they responded Thursday around 2:45 p.m. to Barr's campaign headquarters on a vandalism report. When police arrived, the suspect, Lashelle, was gone and no staff members were injured.
In a statement, Barr said, "Political violence has no place in our country. I'm grateful to God that our staff and volunteers are safe and not hurt."
Barr is running for Mitch McConnell's Senate seat.
Lashelle was booked into the Madison County Detention Center, but booking records show Lashelle had been released Saturday. It is unclear if he posted bond or was transferred.
