LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man is in the hospital after leading police on a chase in Hodgenville on Friday night, according to police.
Hodgenville Police tried to stop a vehicle driving more than 40 mph over the posted limited on Lincoln Farm Road at 11:16 p.m., according to police. Police said the vehicle didn't stop and drove away from police at a high rate of speed.
Police said the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed on N. Lincoln Boulevard. The driver fled on foot after the crash and fired a handgun at police as he fled.Â
Police said the suspect was found in the creek behind Creekfront Park. Police negotiated with the suspect as he held a gun to his head, according to police.
Police said the suspect shot himself, which ended the standoff. The suspect was taken to the hospital, but police haven't released his condition or identity at this time.
There were two passengers in the suspect's vehicle, but neither were injured. No police officers were injured during the incident.Â
