LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being shot multiple times at an apartment complex in St. Matthews.
According to Assistant Chief Tony Cobaugh with the St. Matthews Police Department, officers were called to the 800 block of Markham Lane atĀ the Jamestown at St. Matthews ApartmentsĀ around 10:59 a.m. on a reported shooting.
Police were on scene within three minutes of the call. When they arrived, they were met by two people outside of the apartment where the shooting happened. One of the subjects told police that there was someone inside in need of medical attention.
A man was found inside the residence with "multiple gunshot wounds," according to Cobaugh. Police officials and EMS began life-saving measures on the victim until he was transported to University Hospital.
Police also located a weapon outside the apartment that was secured immediately after they arrived.
Cobaugh said the shooting was between two family members, and there is no threat to the surrounding area. All parties are accounted for.
Police are continuing to investigate what led to the shooting.
