LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The wife of a former Clark County sheriff under investigation for fraud and corruption is now being charged.

Misty Noel is charged with theft and tax evasion. Her husband, Jamey Noel, is facing more than a dozen felony charges related to corruption, theft and ghost employment.

According to court records, a probable cause affidavit was filed Wednesday against Misty Noel. She's charged with five counts of theft and five felony counts of tax evasion.

During a hearing earlier this month in Jamey Noel's case, prosecutors alluded to his wife's potential arrest. At the time, prosecutors said they didn't yet have probable cause.

Jamey Noel has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him and is awaiting trial, which is scheduled for May.

The Indiana Supreme Court will appoint a new judge in Misty Noel's case. The new judge will have to review a probable cause affidavit, and would be the person to sign an arrest warrant. A Clark County judge recused himself from Misty Noel's case Wednesday afternoon.
