LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Human remains found at a much maligned Louisville Housing Authority complex still haven't been identified as additional remains have been uncovered.
LMPD responded to Dosker Manor around 7:30 a.m. March 22 on a report of human remains that were found. Police confirmed that bones were discovered at the housing complex near the corner of Muhammad Ali Boulevard and Liberty Street.
LMPD chief Paul Humphrey said Wednesday that more remains were found at the complex. Police believe the remains are part of the same remains found March 22. Police don't believe it was a second person.
It's still unclear who the remains belong to and how that person died.
"Obviously there was a good level of breakdown of the evidence that was there so we're still in the early stages of that, of processing those remains and trying to identify the person and how they died," Humphrey said.
The investigation is ongoing.
The public housing complex near downtown Louisville has for years been plagued with crime, mechanical breakdowns and complaints from residents about unsanitary living conditions. The Louisville Metro Housing Authority decided the best option is to tear the complex down. That's expected to happen sometime next year after the last of the residents are moved.
