LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A southern Indiana man was arrested and charged with murder Sunday, according to Indiana State Police.
Conner Montgomery, 30, was arrested after a joint investigation by the Jennings County Sheriff's Office and ISP into the death of his 53-year-old father, Robert Montgomery.
Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 4000 block of East Private Road 450 South around 10 p.m. When police arrived on scene, they found Robert Montgomery's body outside the home.
Conner Montgomery was taken into the custody after the shooting.
According to police, he was at the home with a woman and two children when an altercation occurred where he pointed a gun at the woman and fired the gun inside the home. Police said when the woman tried to leave the home, Conner Montgomery shot her vehicle and disabled it.
Robert Montgomery was called to the scene before police were called. When the 53-year-old man arrived, ISP said his son shot him while he was standing outside of the home.
Conner Montgomery, of North Vernon, is charged with murder, criminal confinement with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, domestic battery and neglect of a dependent, among other charges.
He was booked in the Jennings County Jail.
