Suspect arrested in fatal hit-and-run in Louisville's Irish Hill neighborhood

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A man has been arrested in connection to a fatal hit-and-run in Louisville's Irish Hill neighborhood last week.

Louisville Metro Police arrested Criss Dzaringa, 20, and charged him with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid, LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said in a news release on Wednesday.

Mitchell said the arrest was made "through investigation and witness accounts, as well as video footage."

On Thursday, Jan. 18, Louisville police officers responded to a call of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle in the area of Lexington Road at Payne Street about 6:30 p.m.

Officers found 31-year-old Michael Anthony Allen in the roadway. He was transported to University Hospital where he later died.

Dzaringa will be arraigned Thursday morning.
