LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The University of Kentucky has issued a crime bulletin after a report of a sexual assault on campus.
On Monday, Oct. 9, UK Police received a report of a sexual assault that happened on Saturday, Oct. 7 and Sunday, Oct. 8, according to a news release. The victim was attacked at the suspect's off-campus residence and the victim's residence hall.
Both the suspect and victim are students at the university, and the victim knows of the suspect.
UK Police said it's "actively investigating this matter," and is offering some tips to help students, staff, faculty and visitors stay safe on campus.
- Remember to get "affirmative consent" before engaging in sexual activity with anyone. For the university's definition of "affirmative consent," click here.
- No means no. If someone is silent, that doesn't mean yes, and if someone changes their mind, it means no.
- Watch for red flags or warning signs and be an active bystander.
- Don't be afraid to be vocal by yelling, "Back off! Stop!." You deserve to be respected.
- Call for a free SAFECATS escort or schedule after-hours bus service by calling (859)257-SAFE (7233).
- Vouchers for discounted Uber rides are available through Wildcab Vouchers program, which offers up to 10 $6 ride vouchers per semester. Vouchers are valid Thursday, Friday and Saturday between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. with the service area.
Remember sexual assault is never the victim's fault.
