LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A deadly shooting outside a driver’s license branch on Dixie Highway has left three people dead, shaking the community and raising concerns about public safety.
The shooting occurred around noon, claiming the lives of one man and two women.
According to the Louisville Metro Police Department, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, while both women succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. Witnesses describe a chaotic and terrifying scene, with gunfire erupting in broad daylight.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the victims Friday night as 29-year-old Raysa Pacios Valdes, 33-year-old Antwanette Chillers and 18-year-old Leslye Harbin Jr.

Four hours after the shooting, authorities began allowing people to retrieve their vehicles. One car in the parking lot was hit twice, with a bullet fragment found near the driver’s side door.
Ali Raza, one of the witnesses, discovered a bullet hole in his car hood and another in the side panel.
“We suddenly heard a lot of shots. Someone was knocking hard on the windows, and then the security guard told us to run, get on the ground, and save ourselves,” Raza said.
He and his wife took cover inside the building, alongside other customers, including two children caught in the crossfire.
“The children were OK, just scared and crying. But I don’t know about their mother,” Raza said.
Jalen Eddings was sitting in his car, preparing to enter the building when he witnessed the horrifying attack.
“I just saw two masked men run up, shoot the guy a couple of times, and then run off,” Eddings said.
He later saw the two women shot near the entrance and described the attack as targeted.
In the aftermath, panicked bystanders rushed into the building or dropped to the ground for safety. Some hid behind cars, fearing for their lives, as the gunmen escaped in a vehicle heading toward Dixie Highway.
Police have yet to identify any suspects but have stated that they don't believe the public is in immediate danger.
Newly-elected Metro Council member Crystal Bast, who lives just a mile from the scene, expressed her shock and concern.
“This is devastating to the community. Things like this don’t happen around here. Public safety is a top priority, and we are working to see what can be done,” Bast said.
