Woman faces charges after man killed in crash in Louisville's Algonquin neighborhood

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man is dead and a woman is facing charges after a crash in Louisville's Algonquin neighborhood Monday evening.

Police were called to the reported crash near the intersection of West Lee Street and McCloskey Avenue around 7:40 p.m., Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Aaron Ellis said in a statement.

Airel Taylor, 25, was arrested on the scene after the crash.

Investigators with LMPD's Traffic Unit believe Taylor was driving a pickup truck and ran a stop sign at the intersection "for some unknown reason," colliding with a Mustang that was entering the road, Ellis said.

The impact of the two vehicles caused the Mustang to lose control, hitting an unoccupied vehicle that was parked nearby. The driver of the Mustang, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Taylor is being charged with vehicular homicide and driving under the influence. She is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday morning.
