Woman found 'obviously deceased' from gunshot wound near Buechel, Louisville police say

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police are investigating after a woman was found dead with a gunshot wound near Buechel late Wednesday afternoon.

Officers were called to the 4400 block of Newport Road around 4:15 p.m. on a reported person down, LMPD Spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said in a statement. That's off Fegenbush Lane, not far from GE Appliance Park.

Responding officers found "what appears to be an adult female obviously deceased and appeared to have been shot," Mitchell said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

LMPD's Homicide Unit is handling the investigation, but has no suspects and has made no arrests. Police are looking for any potential witnesses or video from surveillance cameras in the area.
