LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- While people weren't able to enjoy Thunder Over Louisville this year due to its cancellation after historic flooding, there were plenty of other things to do on Saturday.
The Louisville Bats played a double header, Racing Louisville FC played at Lynn Family Stadium and several Thunder parties were still held around the city.Â
"I feel like this is a great supplement, it's a beautiful day out here, not a cloud in the sky and we're still kind of downtown, it feels like we're getting that Thunder experience of sorts," said Zach Wheeler, who went to the Bats' games Saturday.
The Galt House Hotel hosted a day of live music, food and drinks in the The Conservatory during the traditional Thunder Over Louisville time frame. The Kentucky Derby Festival also had a pop-up shop at the hotel in downtown Louisville.
The Whirling Tiger hosted a "Thunder Under Tiger", showing videos of fireworks, videos of jets and karaoke roulette on Story Avenue.Â
Some families visited Waterfront Park after volunteers worked to clean up the area. All in all, Saturday was a chance to spend time with people even without the fireworks show.
"It's just a hometown feeling about when there's nights like this the local people come out, mix with some people who like to see what's new around town. Come out with my best friends and enjoy the weather as well," said Jalen Henry.
Guestroom Records was filled on Saturday during Record Store Day, and didn't have to compete with Thunder Over Louisville this year.
"Record Store Day is almost always on Thunder, so it's always a weird celebration for us because we feel part of the Thunder celebration, " Lisa Foster, owner of Guestroom Records said. "We were sad like everyone else to see Thunder go away."
Even though Thunder wasn't held this year, people said they're looking forward to it next year.
