LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- People had the chance to learn about dinosaurs at the Falls of the Ohio in southern Indiana on Saturday.
Digging the Past is an annual event at the state park that overlooks the Ohio River. Guests could explore fossils, minerals and archaeology during free programs and games at the park's interpretive center in Clarksville.
There were guided hikes along the river banks, lessons about geodes and crystals and information about the dinosaurs that called the Ohio River Valley home.
"We want people to be aware that the rocks under their feet, under their gardens, you can find all sorts of interesting things there and there is lots of stories to be told when you find stuff," said Alan Goldstein, interpretive naturalist.
There were also dinosaur-themed crafts, a dig at a mini-rock station and rock polishing.
