CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- Falls of the Ohio State Park now features a new outdoor space for learning.
A special ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Friday morning to mark the official opening of a new outdoor classroom on the banks of the river in Clarksville.
The outdoor classroom was designed as a space for learning in a natural environment that connects visitors to the area's unique landscape and history.
"This is a place where kids can come with our staff and with volunteers to do and understand and know more about Falls of The Ohio, know more about the history here the pre-history here," said Ginger Murphy, deputy director of the Indiana Department of Natural Resource's division of state parks. "It's a pretty amazing place with unique facilities and services."
The classroom also includes large driftwood logs for seating and a limestone boulder arrangement for exploration and fossil identification.
Everything is sourced directly from the falls.
