LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The American Red Cross is hosting their annual Holiday Blood Drive.
For 46 years, the American Red Cross has been collecting blood in hopes to cater to the need of blood during the holidays.
Between Christmas and New Years, more than 1 million blood transfusions will be given in the United States.
The Donorama will be on Dec. 26 and 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the UAW Local 862 at 3000 Fern Valley Road in Louisville. Their goal is to have more than 500 donors between both days.
All donors must have a blood donor card or a driver's license in order to donate.
Donations of all blood types are needed. As a thank you, all donors will receive a Broaster chicken dinner and a long-sleeve Red Cross t-shirt, while supplies last.
Donors can donate blood every 56 days or up to six times a year. You need to be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Click here for a complete list of eligibility requirements.Ā
