LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB/WAVE) — Drivers are frustrated by ongoing roadwork in east Louisville.
They have been dealing with traffic headaches for months as the Interstate 264 and U.S. 42 interchange undergoes a $130 million project.
The work is taking place next to construction on the new VA hospital. Last week, the VA announced construction on the hospital is behind schedule and will not be completed until spring.
The new timeline leaves both projects overlapping for longer.
"They're constantly moving things, changing things," said school bus driver Tom McFadden. "Closing this lane down, opening this lane up, making it two lanes, four lanes. So, it's been an aggravation, I guess, is probably the best word to use."
Once hospital construction is complete, it will bring additional traffic to the same stretch of road. That includes doctors, staff, patients and visitors using an interchange that may still be under construction.
