LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Faculty and students were asked Monday afternoon to avoid the area around libraries on the University of Louisville and Murray State University campus after a reported bomb threat.
U of L spokesperson John Karman said a RAVE alert was shared at 2:15 p.m. to evacuate libraries on campus until further notice due to a "safety concern."
According to Karman, bomb threats have apparently been made also at other university libraries across the country.
An all-clear was given by U of L at 3:57 p.m.
Murray State University also closed multiple buildings on campus Monday after receiving an email "indicating a bomb threat to a campus library."
Officials said they believe "it is likely that this is a hoax" but the following buildings were closed for the remainder of the day out of caution.
- Pogue Library
- Waterfield Library
- Carr Hall
- Ruby Simpson
- New Fine Arts
- Old Fine Arts
- Applied Sciences Building
- Lowry Center
"The Murray State University Police Department, along with relevant personnel, are investigating the situation currently," Murray State officials said in a news release.
